Burning Off Your Dead Wood: Lessons From Ultra Instinct Goku

What does it mean to be a hero?

The heroes journey is one of sacrifice, you can choose your sacrifice but you don't get to escape one. The greatest heroes make the greatest sacrifice, that's what it means to be a hero.

I often preach being the hero of your own story and empowering yourself through the bad times. But to empower yourself you have to give something up, you can't have it all.

Some of my sacrifices:

-I gave up smoking so I could run again
-I gave up unhealthy eating habits for abs
-I gave up my morning hours so I could train every day
-I gave up drugs/alcohol so I had more control of my life
-I gave up long gaming sessions so I could start a business
-I gave up most of my leisure time to further my cosplay skills
-I gave up what didn't matter to me for the things that did
-I gave up on the hedonistic me for the healthy me

I consistently aim to burn off my dead wood, to eventually sacrifice everything about myself that isn't what it could be. In essence, going on to give up the healthy me for a 'perfect' me. The real life version of Ultra Instinct: the pinnacle of ones mind and body.

It's not as easy as it sounds, but those who can't sacrifice anything will never change anything (as Erwin Smith says).

Be your own hero, pick your own sacrifice. Be More Shonen.
