We All Need A Hero: DragonBall & Anime As Motivation

I have made it no secret that Goku’s personality and physique was my initial motivation to train and improve myself

Some will use irl figures and models, say Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elon Musk, insert revolutionary celebrity in their own right here etc

And for some, that works great. For me I think Elon Musk is an utterly boring human being and Arnie doesn’t sleep enough. So as corny as it is, I had to turn to anime to get my external motivation.

Having your goals written down in front of you on your desk or somewhere else in your home is a great way to remind you of what’s important to you.

The way I do this? Cringe overload; this figure of Ultra Instinct Goku sits on my desk. It serves the following purposes:

1.Ultra Instinct is currently Goku’s strongest form and a constant reminder that there is always another level to reach

2.He’s topless and his physique and strength reminds me to not make decisions that will go against my fitness goals

3.I bought him in Japan whilst we were competing for WCS. A reminder of one of the happiest times in my life and what’s important to me: my partner, experiences, competition, entertaining etc

4.It reminds me to always do the right thing in pursuit of my goals, to never lose way on my character and to keep smiling through the grit and hard work

Got an anime hero you admire? Try putting those pieces of plastic you’ve gathered at cons to good use. Use them to improve yourself
